Bestsellers

Below you will see a snippet about a bestseller, either current or previous. Your task is to define the title of the book and what year it was on bestseller. Be careful! Some books are bestsellers multiple years; in that case, something will be hidden in the clue to denote which year is the answer.

Directions: In blank (1) put the book title in all lowercase, no spaces; in blank (2) put the year. Book titles will be the full book title including "the" and "a". Years will be the numerical value (ie, 2009).

This is a well-known and very popular book which was made into a movie starring Tom Hanks. The book describes the attempts of Robert Langdon, Professor of Religious Symbology at Harvard University, to solve the murder of renowned curator Jacques Saunière of the Louvre Museum in Paris. The title of the novel refers, among other things, to the fact that Saunière's body is found in the Denon Wing of the Louvre naked and posed like the Vitruvian Man with a cryptic message written beside his body and a Pentacle drawn on his stomach in his own blood. It was #1 on the bestseller list the same month that the use of hand-held cell phones while driving was made illegal in the United Kingdom.
